The Holiday Home Bar
Our Guide For Assembling An Exquisite Bar To Carry You Through Winter’s Many Gatherings
Like the perfectly made cocktail, we believe that crafting moments in thoughtful and creative ways is what transforms a gathering into an unforgettable occasion. Investing in those moments with a handsome home bar makes bringing friends and loved ones together all the easier, with just the right sparkling glassware, libations, and accoutrements at your fingertips to celebrate with effortless style.
Years of entertaining experience has shown us that a home bar can be arranged absolutely anywhere and doesn’t need to be fancy. From a wheeled cart, to a bookshelf, to a repurposed credenza - you definitely don’t need Gatsby-level opulence in order to achieve an unforgettable focal point for festivities. In fact, a serving tray placed on a piano top is a bar we rather think Zelda would adore. Any small space will do, and can be transformed with the perfect accessories.
Building Your Bar Basics - Our Recommended Essentials:
- Bar tool set - a double-sided jigger, cocktail strainer, bar spoon, bottle opener and muddler
- Cocktail shaker
- Glassware - Champagne flutes, Wine glasses, Double Old Fashioned glasses, Highball glasses, Martini glasses
- Ice bucket and tongs
One of our favorite iterations of the home bar is a “pop-up” bar using a large serving tray that can be moved anywhere on a whim. A change of venue, so to speak, always refreshes the senses and sparks conversation - even if you’re just migrating from the dining room to the patio. A pop-up bar tray is also wonderful if you have children in the home and you don’t want to have alcohol accessible all the time! It is a breeze to pack it up and put it all away at evening’s end.
Whether it’s the weekend calling, with the requisite ritual of cocktail hour to decompress by the fireside, or a flurry of guests descending to party the night away under the mistletoe, the home bar is the entertaining secret sauce for the holiday season, a treasure chest inviting everyone to dive in and shake it up, cause a stir, and cheers to the merriest time of year.
