A Vine Romance
Veronica Beard & Juliska Collaboration
The Bohemian Vine Collection
For 20 years, we at Juliska have done all of our own design in-house and take great pride in the beautiful library of original designs we have created. This year for the very first time, we decided to partner with another fabulous female lead brand, Veronica Beard, to create a dinnerware collection. I’ve had a huge brand crush on Veronica Beard for a few years now and a mutual friend, Neiman Marcus, set us up on a blind date. We were tickled pink to find out they had been crushing on us too and the rest is history – or better yet, “herstory.”
For those in need of an introduction, allow me to introduce my new gal-pals - the eponymous dynamic duo are sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard, co-founders of the powerhouse Veronica Beard fashion brand. In their renowned and ultra-chic wardrobe essentials designed for modern “women who make it happen,” we recognized a kindred creative spirit inspired by reinventing classics for the modern woman’s lifestyle.
Fortuitously, the Veronicas had been simultaneously dreaming of their first foray into a tableware collaboration. Veronica Swanson Beard is a huge tableware collector with her own cupboards chock-full of Juliska already. Needless to say, calls were made, stars aligned, and the co-designed Bohemian Vine collection was created.
Not surprisingly, we found that our companies see life in the same way. We share a deep love of family and friends, and firmly believe that while we juggle everything, we still want to look good doing it (whether it’s grocery shopping or whirling from the office to school pickup). We are both practical and adore doing ‘casual’ in an elevated way. Just as Veronica Beard pairs jeans with a really elegant blazer, Juliska loves to pair a great stoneware plate with an exquisitely mouth-blown Bohemian glass.
“Home and entertaining are such huge parts of both of our personal lives, and central to the way we have built Veronica Beard, so we couldn’t wait to partner with Juliska on our Bohemian Vine tabletop. It is a perfect answer to elevated, whimsical basics you want to use for both your chic, candlelit dinners, and your lazy Sunday mornings.”

True to our shared “mix and match” ethos, ‘the Veronica’s’, as they are affectionately known by all, didn’t want a dinnerware collection that matched. They wanted in eclectic curation that looked as if it had been collected over time from far flung markets and romantic destinations. From this seed grew the inspiration for the entire collection - one of an eclectic trove of beautifully curated odds and ends accumulated by a woman who is both an adventurer and a homebody, and who is gorgeously weaving the pieces into her own unique style and story.
What followed was a design process that felt like a duet, where our voices harmonized around each other. Ideas swirled and flowed with delicious ease between the two design teams. The Veronicas shared an assortment of beloved textiles and traditional hand painted ceramics they had collected from the Iberian Coast, which became our wellspring of inspiration. Colors from the ancient region fueled palette choices of deep indigo blue, vibrant verdure green, and rich chocolate brown - all juxtaposed with a fresh, breezy white. We went through a few iterations, but the process seemed effortless because we were just so naturally aligned on our favorite elements.
A watercolor artist then hand-painted our original artwork, which would ultimately be painstakingly transferred into decals and applied onto our signature stoneware shapes. Each piece is then hand glazed and fired three separate times in our ceramic studio in Portugal. Wanting to bring even more layers and texture to the table, Veronica Beard hand-picked a selection of existing Juliska accessories - from our rustic woven napkin rings to macramé placemats and bamboo flatware - and even reached into the Juliska archives to select their favorite pieces from our treasured Jardins du Monde pattern to add to the assortment. Creating an exclusive glaze in a gorgeous deep green hue, this specially created “capsule” of Jardins du Monde ceramics completes the curation of ceramic ‘pot-a-porter’ collection and accessories, harmonized to mix and match effortlessly in a dance of colors, silhouettes, textures and motifs.
To celebrate the launch of our Veronica Beard & Juliska fourteen-piece, limited-edition Bohemian Vine dinnerware collaboration, we co-hosted an intimate seated dinner party with Vogue magazine at the Wölffer Estate Vineyard in South Hampton. We were thrilled to debut our beautiful dinnerware for the first time at such a gorgeous twilight event. The fountain sparkled by candlelight, horses whinnied softly in the stables, and our Bohemian glasses clinked with Wolffer estate rosé as a group of fascinating women around the table chatted, giggled and shared their stories with each other over a delicious meal of fresh pesto ravioli, grilled Seabass and local vegetables topped off with a grand finale of summer strawberry shortcake made with buttery biscuits and freshly whipped cream. My darling husband Mr. Gooding was the evening’s only man and designated “eye candy.” He said that being a girl dad of three “pirate princesses” has fully prepared him to be up to the task of being in such fine company of stylish and accomplished women.
With a table festooned in jewel-toned garden flowers, a custom tablecloth generously gifted by Schumacher in their sumptuous ‘Floralia’ fabric, and scrumptious fare, the evening perfectly personified everything our Bohemian Vine had come to represent - an ode to abundance, growing friendships, and a passion for bringing people together at the table.
